How to Tell When Someone Has a Problem Once again, when someone around you has a drug problem, it soon becomes the problem of everyone they encounter. More often than not, the family and loved ones around the drug user can see the drug problem developing long before the user can. It may sometimes be hard to tell if the problem someone is having is due to abusing drugs. It could be said that a change in their behavior indicates a drug problem, but this could also be anything from depression, stress or other psychological and emotional problems. Here are a few warning sign that someone you know may have a drug abuse problem:
It is not only important for the user to admit they have a problem with drugs, but it is equally important for a family member or friend to realize when they are being affected by a person’s drug use. It is crucial to determine whether or not you have anxiety or worry about a person’s extreme drug use, whether their drug use is hindering your financial situation, or if you feel like you are lying or covering up for someone who uses drugs. It is also vital to recognize whether or not you threaten to hurt yourself or leave in order to persuade the person to quit using drugs or if you feel embarrassed or hurt by a drug user. If you can say yes to any of these things, more than likely you are denying the fact that a person you care about has a drug problem that needs resolved and you are being severely affected by it, just as they are.
