Cost of Rehabilitation Centers The cost of entering a center could be a factor as to why drug abusers are so hestitant to admit themselves into one. According to a 2002 report done by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the average cost for treatment of alcohol or other drug addiction in outpatient facilities was $1,433 per course of treatment. So is the price worth it? For a full year of methadone maintenance treatment (according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse) the cost is approximately $4,700 per patient. This seems like an outrageous amount of money right off the bat. However, after getting over the initial shock of the price you can see the advantages of it. For every $1 that is invested in an addiction treatment program, a $4-$7 return reduces drug-related crime, criminal justice costs, and theft alone. That one fact eases the tension of the high cost of the facilities. The total savings can exceed costs by a ratio of 12 to 1. There can, nevertheless, be a high negative impact on the money spent to accommodate these rehabilitation facilities. Copyright
